Abstract: | Children with more extensive cutaneous mastocytosis have a higher risk for symptoms secondary to release of mast cell mediators. However, the remote possibility of anaphylaxis in patients with a solitary lesion suggests the need for cautious use of general anesthesia in these children. We describe an unusual case of a patient with a solitary mastocytoma who experienced an anaphylactic reaction during a surgical procedure and make recommendations to reduce the risk of intraoperative anaphylaxis in mast cell disease. | |
